Women (and men) March To Ban The Bomb

Jun 17, 2017

The UN was meeting and deciding to pass a resolution supported by most of the world's nations: to rid the world of the threat of destruction by nuclear war. Sadly, the United States, which previously supported this goal (at least in principle) now opposes it. "This is not the time," said Nicki Haley, Trump's ambassador to the world body. To which most of the world's people, increasingly alarmed by the increased danger of a nuclear conflict, say—"if not now, then when?"

Rain was not expected but it came nevertheless and in sheets and buckets, dampening the turnout but not the spirit. Brooklyn For Peace met at a nearby coffee shop and then joined the procession east on 42nd Street. The destination was the UN building on First Avenue to inform the world's nations that Americans too want total and complete nuclear disarmament in order to protect our planet and preserve our civilization.
